We are a sinful nation.
We are a people laden with iniquity.
We have forsaken the Lord.
The whole head is sick. The whole heart is faint. From the sole of the foot even to the head, there is no soundness in it. Only wounds, bruises, and putrefying sores (Isa 1:5-6)
While you were reading this another baby had its life stolen through murder. We are at a second turning point in our nation that we cannot ignore. The Supreme Court did not end slavery. Slavery was ended by people like you and I who could no longer ignore slavery as if it didn’t exist.
Prior to the Civil War there were Bible believing people crying out to end slavery. They called slavery SIN and worked for immediate and unconditional emancipation of all slaves.
They called all people, whether they held a BIble or not, to REPENTANCE. They worked to overcome the apathy that allowed slavery to continue.
Their message of repentance was not heard. As a result, God judged our culture and war was brought upon our nation. We still feel the effects of that war today.
Are we any different? The answer is no. We have closed our hearts to the preborn just as we as a nation closed our hearts to the slaves of Dred Scott. The Prophet Jeremiah speaks to our day as strongly as to the day of the slave and to his own people. He calls us to life in its fulness. A more righteous life:
Thus says the LORD: Do justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed. And do no wrong or violence to the resident alien, the fatherless, and the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place. Jer 22:3 ESV
The answer to are we different is an obvious no. We are no different. We like those before us have not heeded the words of the prophet. We have not done justice or righteousness. We have done wrong to the fatherless and the widow. We have shed innocent blood at a level never seen before in history.
We have tried gradualism for fifty years and we have not won the war against the preborn.
Many who claim to be “pro-life” have relied on politicians and specialized ministries or even social justice organizations to end abortion. Loving our preborn neighbor has been labeled a “political issue,” and viewed as a calling for some. It has been given into to the care of a very small set of professionals who make a living being pro-life.
All the while we have been busy remaining comfortable and entertained in our services, no matter where they were held or on what day of the week they happened to fall. All while our preborn neighbors are systematically destroyed and we entertain ourselves with music, teaching, worshipping with our spiritual family and being comfortable.
Here is what God is thinking:
“I hate, I despise your feasts, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies. . . Take away from me the noise of your songs; to the melody of your harps I will not listen. But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.” Amo 5:21, 23 – 24 ESV

The fact is that numerous pro-life candidates have been elected over the past forty-two years, well over 200 pro-life laws and regulations have been passed, and the right to murder one’s own children while they are in the womb remains legal in every state of the union.
All the while, abortion itself is sought out by members of both political parties, and embraced as a necessary evil by the church and the state. Abortion “services” are procured by both conservatives and liberals, by professing Christians and non-believers alike.
Professing bodies of religious people have by and large yielded to the political wisdom, pragmatism, and compromise endemic to the conservative political establishment (Ex. 23:2 do not fall in with the many to do evil).
The establishment of justice and the practice of pure and undefiled religion has been given over to a coalition of syncretists who not only prefer the worldly wisdom of man to the word of God, but also yoke themselves together with those who want to make a career out of saving babies, regardless of whether or not they love God or possess a worldview capable of grounding ethics and morality. Many of them are nothing but opportunists who have lost their faith and trust in God. They continue to profess their personal Christian piety and beliefs while they pander to the religious bodies of the land for financial support and approval.
They approach the “issue” of abortion from a secular and pluralistic standpoint, denying the power of the Gospel as having anything to do with the fight against abortion except, perhaps, as a secondary issue that might come up in the midst of “saving the babies.”

The answer to all of this is the uncompromising presentation of repentance which begins with an understanding of what it is we have violated and how deeply our repentance must run.
Torah (God’s Law) calls everyone to repentance.
We are all equally guilty before our Creator – the Author of Torah, His teaching and instruction about life. First of all, this message is not about you, it is about Him. Listen to these words from Rabbi Shaul, also called Paul, and our place before the holy Creator of heaven and earth.
And we have known that as many things as the Law says, to those in the Law it speaks, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may come under judgment to God; Rom 3:19 LSV
Did you hear that? The Law speaks to those in the Law that the mouths of those in the Law may be stopped? No, may it never be. THAT EVERY MOUTH MAY BE STOPPED! Yours, mine and everyone else who has violated the Creator’s way of life, whether you were born with Torah or not!
We are all equally guilty of allowing the abomination of child sacrifice to be openly practiced while we wanted to be safe, comfortable, entertained and enlightened while ignoring both of the two greatest of all the Commandments.
“And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?” Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mar 12:28 – 31 ESV
The Lord our God, the Lord is one. He is unique, the only one of his kind in existence and leaves us nowhere else to turn, as it is written:
“You shall have no other gods before me.” Exo 20:3 ESV
Today there are more Christian denominations than there are verses in the Bible (about 40,000 denominations to 31,102 verses). Yet there is one God. Add to this Messianic, Roman Catholic and other differences and how we differ in approach to what we claim is our foundation in the Scriptures. We all have treated the Torah like a buffet line at a serve yourself restaurant, and only putting on our plates what we like or what is easy. We act as if there are many gods with each of our divisions claiming exclusivity and each one rewriting the un-rewritable words of the Only One True God.
Added to that, we are guilty of dividing over cultural differences while 64 million children have died.
Yes, there are many cultural differences having to do with how we express believing, but as Paul wrote “There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” Eph 4:4 – 6 ESV
If there is one faith then our differences are cultural issues. Answers in Exodus is calling for the establishment of local inter cultural alliances to stand visibly together in repentance. Intercultural, not inter-faith. That is a wrong concept from the start, especially when we begin to understand that The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.” Isa 40:8 ESV His Word does not change. What changes is how we dance around that word to avoid the parts we do not appreciate.
Hebraic means those who have made a crossing to live differently.
We call our work to abolish abortion Hebraic because that term pre-dates all the other terms we are used to hearing. When Abram left Ur of the Chaldees there were no Jews, no Gentiles, no Baptists, no Lutherans, no Roman Catholics, no Eastern Orthodox, no whatever terms we have invented.
There were only the עברי (‘ibrı̂y) which at its root means to cross over, traverse or pass through. They were those who had traversed rivers to get to new lands and to live differently. This word first appears in Genesis 14:13 “Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew (‛ibrı̂y), who was living by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and of Aner. These were allies of Abram.”
Joshua sums this up for us when he says, “Now you must fear the LORD and serve him in faithfulness and truth. Throw away the gods that your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Instead, serve the LORD.” Jos 24:14 ISV
What river is there in your life that you must cross in order to leave the differences that keep you divided and isolated? We must allow repentance for this great evil to drive us together before our one God in order to find our unity in leaving behind our complacency and injustice. We must repent or we will all likewise perish. We must unashamedly embrace both being Pro Life and Pro Torah!
Joint repentance and the Gospel of the Kingdom are the only answer.
When Jesus appeared on the scene his first words were “Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven (God) is at hand.”
That was the message of Jesus (and all the other aka’s you can think of) that he preached to everyone. It was heard by rabbis, Pharisees, Sadducees, scribes, disciples of John the Immerser (he was not a baptist), people from Qumran, Samaritans, Romans, Greeks, Phillistines and anyone else who was present.
That message never changed and the call was equal to everyone.
Do we want to perish? No? Then we must all repent. And joining with one another to do this publicly and visually is a starting point.
